Denis,

No, there is currently no way to tag portions of an HTML document not to be indexed. This has been requested numerous times now though and has been captured on the product backlog as a feature request.

Thanks,
Sean

There is a simple workaround ....

omnifind enables you to configure its "user agent" which enables you to eliminate portions of your content from
omnifind index. Your application should check the "user agent" and eliminate some of the content.

That's absolutely brilliant! I love it. Thanks yuval!

I'm going to write that up as a blog entry.

Thanks,

Hi guys!

Great suggestion.  Has anyone followed through with it?

"omnifind enables you to configure its "user agent"" - where is this configuration option?

And, I presume, like on a script page, I'd just put a big "IF" around any block of html I don't want spit out, and If user_agent <> "" then...  etc?

While this workaround seems ingenious I am unable to use it since of the caching system on our CMS.

Any updates for a standard, markup based solution for this (eternal) issue? As a "Yahoo!" engine you might want to look into your own robots-nocontent microformat: http://www.ysearchblog.com/archives/000444.html

An example on how this is implemented would go a long way in helping those of us who are faced with the task of solving this serious problem.

Thanks.
