Can you please list, or point me to a link where all of the supported file formats are listed?

Thanks,
Brad

You can find a list of supported file types in the administration console help. Click Help. From the table of contents, click Crawling file systems to retrieve documents. Scroll down and click the link Supported file types.

Is it something you could easily copy and paste? I would like to take a look before I install the software.

Thanks Again,

Will your search 'read' the documents in pdf format, or only the filename?
I try to store most things as pdf, but I also have various document groups scanned as bitmap and jpeg. Can the search read images?

Thankyou,

Jesper

Hi Jesper,

Omnifind Yahoo!Edition will extract text from a PDF and index it. It does not have OCR capability so will not be able to extract text from scanned jpegs or bitmaps.

Is it or will it ever be possible to index Autodesk files like dwg, dxf etc.?

Or maybe its possible index with a plugin or something?

Hi Reen,

When we tested OYE against Autocad files the text extracted were not very good. You may want to give it a try to see if you are happy with the result. We are looking into plugins but they are not supported in the current release.

Does it support ODF (OpenOffice 2, etc.) file formats?

Yes, it should work to index Open Office formats. This is one of the many format that Stellent supports, but we have not tested it excessively.

I'm not sure how useful this is (other than to plan for plug-in API file types; see this post: http://omnifind.ibm.yahoo.net/forums/index.php/topic,72.0.html).

I would like to put in another vote for the capability to search within cad files. I would love to roll out a search solution for the firm which could search inside autocad files, but now that cad technology is moving toward building information modeling, Revit and Archicad files will be important too. Whether this is a plug-in or part of the base install, this functionality would be extremely useful!!

How can we change this and include a certain extension like TIF?

This cannot be changed in OmniFind Yahoo! Edition. But this appears to be on many wish lists - therefore there is a good chance we'll add the capability to configure the excluded formats in the future.
